Montenegro is certainly one of the most interesting places in the world. Even though it covers solely around 14.000 km2 and it only has about 670.000 citizens, its contribution to the world cultural heritage is impressive comparing its size. During centuries of its rich history Montenegro has survived and remained one of the brightest models for the fight for freedom, for its own existence, and a place of which people always spoke with respect. Christian, Muslim, Illyrian, Byzantine, Turkish, and Slav civilizations merged here making Montenegro forever a crossroad of culture and history. CONFUSION ABOUT CALLS

It was call YZ6/call, 4O1/call,...etc. Because all that I must repeat my old post: All amateur radio stations who have CEPT license can work from Montenegro with and only with 4O/callsign until three months without special license. Of course, you can free send email for all questions about that. Please be sure before you start your activity.

ITU okays Montenegro, Serbia call sign prefix agreement
writer: ARRL News (www.arrl.com), May 16, 2007

-> Although it became a country and a DXCC entity in its own right last June, Montenegro has not had an Amateur Radio call sign block to call its own until this month. According to The Daily DX, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) did not want to give Montenegro an entirely new prefix, so it required the states of Montenegro and Serbia to agree upon one or two prefixes from the five (4N, 4O, YT, YU and YZ) assigned to the former Serbia-Montenegro. An agreement was reached May 11, and the ITU now lists 4O (that's "four Oscar") as Montenegro's.

This means Montenegro stations may use 4O0 through 4O9, while Serbia stations will continue to use YT and YU prefixes for all call districts, 0 through 9. The ITU has taken back the former 4N and YZ prefixes for future reassignment. The ITU reportedly wants the two nations to complete the transition to new call sign blocks as soon as possible. The Daily DX Editor Bernie McClenny, W3UR, recommends that DXers update their logging software carefully to reflect the changes.

Montenegro now have 14 Lights in ARLHS List, "just turn on the lights!"
writer: Nikola Ilic 4O7AMD (YZ6AMD), June 13, 2007

-> After Monetenegro have only 8 lighthouses on ARLHS List of lights with non correct informations about their position and non offical names. Special thanks for the Ted W8TTS and Jim K2JXW Founder and President of the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society, for all help with correcting data and adding new Montenegrin lights. I remark that Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society have 1400 members and over 10,000 subscribers and they are the largest lighthouse society of its kind in the world.

The requirements for adding new light are:
Be a lighted aid to navigation,
Be on, or have been, on an "official" list, and
Be able to support a ham station with operator on the structure (not including the base). This doesn't mean it has to be done to activate it, just that it must be possible.
